For Politics group: In "1984" in the Slogan the last of them is Ignorance Is Strength both stalin and hitler used this strongly in the way they ran gov. Germans losing lots in WWI made them desperate and ignorant to what happened during the Holocaust. Stalin used it to build his government after the death of Tzar Nicolous.

Stain's propaganda, like the party's in George Orwell's 1984, glorified himself, the leader. They both used posters.
Stalin also manipulated pictures like the party did with the photograph of the three revolutionaries in 1984. some of the photos can be seen at: http://listverse.com/2007/10/19/top-15-manipulated-photographs/

Hitler's propaganda was a major influence on Orwell's book according to many people. This is a helpful website that breaks down some points.

I was wondering what everyone is focusing on for their papers, and how you are balancing Hitler vs. Stalin. I am trying to focus on both of them equally, but some tactics/events were used/happened by both leaders. I am having trouble deciding when to focus on Hitler and when to focus on Stalin in these situations.
How are you dividing the two in your paper?

Is anyone else using the manipulation of language (Newspeak) in their papers? Anytime I try to write this out I feel like I am edging more towards mind control. Is mind control considered political if it was used frequently to gain support? Can I discuss this in my paper?

@O’Shea
I’m having trouble deciding between how much information I should use on Stalin and Hitler as well. Anytime I go looking for an example or a correlation they both almost always have excellent examples that I want to use. What I will probably end up doing is using one example, then having a sentence or two saying how this political technique was also used in this government.
